A New Horizon. The traditional armillary sphere was used to show the position of the Earth and the movement of the heavens. Depending on the particular piece, you will find the equator, tropics of Cancer and Capricorn, possibly the artic circles, and the horizon. Some will even include mapping of the constellations and position of the moon and sun.

With A New Horizon we find none of these rings. Instead, Bitcoin has its fundamentals mapped, true as the north star and a certain as the rising sun.

Let us first draw our attention to the "Cradle" or support arms ascending up to hold the "Horizon" ring. We will notice on each of these four arms is etched one of the four Cardinal Virtues.

Why these words? We turn to the book of Wisdom:
"virtues are the fruit of her(Wisdom's) labors, since it is she who teaches temperance and prudence, justice and fortitude; nothing in life is more useful for human beings." Ws 8:7

These virtues are not only encouraged by Bitcoin, but one could venture to say that Bitcoin embodies these virtues in it's own way.

Now, from these four arms we find a horizontal ring, our "Horizon", holding the inner rings in place. Etched on this ring are 21 hashes, emblematic of the total amount of Bitcoin to ever exist. It is appropriate for this ring to be the Horizon, the base, encompassing everything else within itself, supported by virtue.

We now continue our journey to the central 3 rings suspended within our Horizon of 21. The largest and outermost of these is marked with 32 hashes, representing the 32 Epochs of Bitcoin issuance. Each epoch is made up of 210 thousand blocks and that is where we find the middle ring, on a axis inside of the largest ring, marked with 210 hashes representing 1 hash per 1000 blocks.

As each epoch can be seen as a hash in the outermost ring, each of these can be viewed by the 210 hashes we find on the middle ring. Just as each epoch is made up of 210 thousand blocks, each block is made in a 10 minute period. So we now take another step deeper into our 3 rings to the final and smallest of them, marked with 10 hashes representing these 10 minutes that make up each block. So as we can view each of these rings, one within the other, so we can view key tenets of Bitcoin, one within the other. 10 minutes to form a block, 210 thousand blocks to form an epoch, and 32 epochs to fulfill the issuance of the 21 million Bitcoin.

Finally we allow our eyes to gaze towards the sphere at the center of it all. Obsidian. Black. Dense. Composed mostly of silicon, the same mineral used to create the very computer chips necessary to mine Bitcoin. This sphere at the center of the piece conjures the thoughts not of the earth, like the traditional armillary sphere, but that of a black hole, consuming all matter within its gravitational pull. As a black hole draws in matter, so Bitcoin is drawing in the monetization of the world. Nothing can escape its pull.

Bitcoin is A New Horizon.
