Artist Name and Artwork Title:

2009 by Annette Handal

Description:

"2009” is inspired by George Orwell’s 1984. In 2009, Bitcoin emerged, challenging the notion of a society where governments control every asset and wealth—a reality that once felt inescapable. At that moment, speculation grew around whether to trust or invest in Bitcoin.

This work is the first in a series of four interconnected pieces. The setting is the ocean—unreadable and unpredictable, much like life itself. The central figure pauses to analyse how to act, while all eyes are fixed on him, attempting to intimidate and sway his decision.
