How To Bid

Welcome to the Timechain Artifacts Bitcoin-Only Fine Art Auctions. 

Here’s a quick overview of how everything works, from registering a new account to bidding in auctions and what to do when you win.

Sign in To Bid

First things first. When you get to the site, you’ll need to register an account to bid. You can use pseudonymous credentials, don’t worry, we’re cypherpunk-friendly. Click the link on the page to begin the process. If you already have an account, just click here to sign in and bid.

Sign In/Create a New Account

On the next screen, either sign in with your email and password, or click the link to create a new account.

Create a New Account and Set your Bidding Username

On the next screen, you can enter your name or Pseudonym into the First and last Name fields, enter your email and a strong password. You will get bid notifications sent to your email (we don’t use or sell your info for anything else).

You can also set your “Bidding Username.” This can be an anonymized version of your name or anything you choose to set. This name is publicly visible next to your bids on the auction pages. You can link your social media profiles or website to your username by adding the URL in the appropriate field. (This will allow people to click your username and open a browser tab to your linked page.

Bidding in Auctions

Once you are signed into your account, simply go to the auction page you’d like to bid on and;

1. Click the BLUE BUTTON that says “Next Minimum Bid,” and it will fill in the bid amount for you. Click “BID NOW” to place the bid. 
2. Your "Bidding Username" will show up in the bidding history below.
3. Enter any amount into the field and click BID NOW. (it has to be at or above the “Next Minimum Bid” amount)

After placing a bid, you will show up in the bid history. If you are the Highest Bidder, you will see the “Highest Bid” amount in Green Font. (It will be Red Font if you are not the Highest Bidder).

Enable Auto-Bidding in Auctions

You can check this box to “Enable Auto Bid” and then enter a Maximum Bid and click BID NOW .

1. This feature places the “Next Minimum Bid” for you automatically.
2. If another user bids against you, this feature will outbid them automatically, up to your maximum bid amount.

Below you can see the auto-bid working to keep your bids as low as possible, while ensuring you are the “Highest Bidder.”

Any bids made in the final 5 minutes of the auction will EXTEND the auction countdown by 3 minutes.

You Won the Auction! Great!

What’s next? If you are the highest bidder, after the countdown timer hits zero, you will get a new countdown timer. This timer shows how long you have to complete the payment for the winning auction amount. 

**IMPORTANT** If you do not complete payment by the end of the countdown timer, then you WILL LOSE THE ITEM, and it will be awarded to the 2nd Highest Bidder.

To complete the payment, simply click “Pay Now,” and the item will be added to your cart, and the checkout will open. 

Checkout

During checkout, add your delivery details, select your shipping, and click PAY NOW. 

This will display a Bitcoin payment invoice, and you can select whether to pay using mainchain or lighting.

Once your Payment is completed, you’ll be taken back to an invoice page showing your order details. 

Your items will be shipped securely and discretely to your delivery address (usually within 1-2 weeks for delivery.) You will receive your shipping details and tracking information within 3-5 business days after making payment.
